Plates are usually made to hold food.
But sometimes, one appears that feels complete even before anything is placed on it.
This vintage ceramic plate felt like that.
The hand-painted surface carries a quiet rhythm.
Nothing is sharp or perfectly symmetrical, and that is exactly what makes it gentle.
The design comes from Florence, and you can almost sense the artist slowing down, letting the details breathe.
According to the description, it was fully handmade and painted by hand.
The intention was to show detail—
not to impress, but to share a feeling of calm.
At some point, I stopped thinking about using it
and started imagining where I would hang it.
As kitchenware, it works.
But as an object to live with—to glance at while passing by—it feels even more complete.
Vintage items like this often disappear quietly.
They are there for a while, and then they’re gone.
Even so, I wanted to leave a trace of the moment it caught my eye.

眺めるために在る絵皿
お皿は、本来は食べ物を載せるもの。
でも、ときどき
食べ物を載せなくても「もう完成している」と感じるお皿に出会うことがあります。
このヴィンテージの絵皿は、まさにそんな存在でした。
手描きならではの線の揺らぎ。
きっちり整いすぎていないところが、
かえって全体をやさしく見せています。
フィレンツェのデザインで、完全に手作り。
商品説明には
「アーティストは細部を見せる意図で描いた」
とあり、眺めているだけで
どこかのどかな空気が伝わってくるようでした。
気がついたら
食器として使うことよりも
どこに飾ろうかを考えていました
キッチンで使うこともできるけれど、
壁に掛けて、
ふと目に入るたびに気持ちがゆるむ——
そんな楽しみ方のほうが、しっくりきます。
ヴィンテージのものは、
ある日そっと姿を消してしまうことも多いです。
それでも、
このお皿が目に留まった理由だけは
書き残しておきたくなりました。
