Corduroy is one of those fabrics that has been around for a long time.
And yet, it never really fades.
There’s something quietly elegant about it.
Perhaps it’s the way it’s woven—but the color shifts slightly depending on the angle you look from,
giving it a depth that feels calm rather than showy.
This cushion cover caught my eye for exactly that reason.
No pattern. No decoration.
Just corduroy, letting its texture speak for itself.
The surface looks soft, and it is.
But more than softness, it gives off warmth—
the kind you sense even before touching it.
These days, there are many fabrics designed to feel warm:
microfiber, fleece, and all sorts of technical materials.
But when it comes to quiet refinement,
corduroy still holds its ground.
I found myself wanting to press my face into it,
just to feel the texture for a moment.
What I especially like is the thickness of the cord.
It’s plush without being heavy.
Full-looking, yet surprisingly light.
Changing the color alone would completely alter the mood of a sofa.
Not by adding something new,
but by letting texture do the work.

古くならない質感、コーデュロイの魅力
コーデュロイは、
ずっと昔からある生地なのに、
不思議と古さを感じさせません。
どこか品がよくて、落ち着きがある。
織り方の特徴なのか、
見る角度によって色の深さが少しずつ変わるのも、
この素材ならではだと思います。
このクッションカバーが目に留まったのは、
柄のない、シンプルなデザインだったから。
余計な装飾がなく、
コーデュロイそのものの表情が前に出ています。
触り心地はもちろん良さそうですが、
それ以上に、
見ているだけで暖かさを感じるところが印象的でした。
最近は、
マイクロファイバーやフリースなど、
触り心地や保温性を前面に出した素材も多いですが、
「品の良さ」という点では、
コーデュロイはまだまだ負けていない気がします。
思わず、
顔をうずめたくなる質感でした
このコーデュロイの畝（うね）の太さが、たまりません。
むくむくして見えるのに、実は薄手。
重たくなりすぎず、扱いやすそうです。
色を変えて揃えたら、
同じソファでも、
まったく違う表情になりそう。
そんな想像が自然と浮かびました。
