A Coin Purse Shaped Like Taiyaki

If you’re familiar with Japanese sweets, you probably know taiyaki.
A fish-shaped treat, crisp on the outside, filled with sweet red bean paste inside.

So when I noticed a coin purse shaped like taiyaki, I had to pause.

At first glance, it looks playful—almost like a small object you’d display rather than use.
But this one is made from real leather, solid and carefully crafted, which gives it a surprisingly refined presence.

Instead of sweet filling, this taiyaki holds coins.

The size is compact but not tiny, with enough space not only for coins,
but also for keys or small personal items.
It feels like something that could sit comfortably in a tote bag,
or even be left on a desk like a small object you enjoy looking at.

The leather used is Italian vegetable-tanned leather, about 1.5mm thick,
with a soft sheen and a beautifully finished surface.
Knowing that each piece is handmade to order makes it feel very much like an Etsy kind of find.

It’s called a coin purse, but somehow it feels closer to an object—
something you might want to hang, touch, or simply keep nearby.

最初に目に入ったのは、
「あ、たい焼きだ」という、あまりにも見慣れた形でした。

でも、よく見ると……
え、小銭入れ？
しかも本革？？

思わずスクロールする手が止まります。

たい焼きといえば、
あの香ばしい皮と、
中にぎっしり詰まった甘いあんこ。

その“あんこポジション”に、
まさかお金を入れる日が来るとは思いませんでした。

かわいいだけじゃなくて、ちゃんとしてる

面白い形の小物って、
正直「素材はそれなり」なことも多いのですが、
これは違いました。

使われているのは、
イタリア産の植物タンニンなめし革。
厚みもしっかりあって、つや感もきれい。

たい焼きそのままの形なのに、
チープさがなくて、
なぜか落ち着いた存在感があります。

コインパース？小物入れ？それとも…

サイズは思ったよりもしっかりめ。

小銭だけじゃなくて、
鍵や小さなアクセサリーを入れてもよさそうです。

サイズ感は、
小さめのバッグだと ちょっと大きめかも？ という印象。
でもトートバッグなら、ぜんぜん気にならなさそうです。
むしろ、バッグの中で見つけるたびに
ちょっと嬉しくなりそうです。

なんだかこのたい焼きにぴったり。

実用品なのに、
どこか飾りたくなる。
